IMPACTS
"Did the planet betray us?
...or did we betray the planet?"
How this film impacted meThis movie really impacted me and I think the one thing in the movie that made me think about actually making a difference was one particular animation about a frog in boiling water. Al Gore has a voiceover while this animation is playing and he is saying how when you put a frog in boiling water he will listen to his senses and jump out but if you put the frog in lukewarm water and slowly turn the dial to a boil, he won't realize a thing until he is slowly dying and needs to be rescued. This relates to the connection between us and our earth because we know the the earth is gradually becoming a more and more unhealthy place to live but no one is going to realize that have to do something about it until becomes severe enough that we have no choice. Then hopefully it won't be to late.
The only thing I think was a missed opportunity about this movie was the fact it didn't tell you what you could do to help at any point in the movie. Only at the end credits did it give you little tips on how to cut down on energy waste but other than that: nothing. I think the documentary could have created a much greater impact if it were to be more about how you can make a difference instead of making you feel bad about your previous actions the entire time. |
